Our list of 8 best VIZIO soundbars includes all kinds of soundbar systems – single bars, soundbar/subwoofer combos, and whole VIZIO surround sound systems (usually with wireless subwoofers). Some soundbars are quite small, others are large. Some bars have multiple HDMI connections and feature Bluetooth and wi-fi connectivity, while others are just basic cheap bars with optical and coaxial inputs only. All in all, you should be able to find the right soundbar for your setup regardless of your room/TV size and your requirements. These are our top picks.

8 Best VIZIO Sound Bars in 2020

1. VIZIO SB2920-C6

VIZIO SB2920-C6

Check Price on Amazon

SB2920-C6 is a perfect choice for any 32in-40in TV. It’s a simple 2.0 system and comes with all the necessary cables and mounting equipment. It also comes with a nice IR remote.

Things we like

SB2920-C6 has a simple but still recognizable cuboid design. Front, top, and bottom panels are covered with black acoustic fabric. On the left and right panels, you have plastic covers with VIZIO logos.

On the front panel, in the left corner, there’s an array of LED indicators that show you which source and which sound mode is engaged. On the top, you have a simple 5-button control panel (power, source, Bluetooth, and 2 volume buttons).

All the inputs and outputs are on the back. This soundbar houses one TOSLINK input, coaxial input, two AUX inputs, one USB input (for music playback), and one SUB OUT port.

When it comes to advanced features, it’s important to mention two proprietary technologies – TruVolume and TruSurround. TruVolume regulates the volume and keeps it at a consistent level. TruSurround is a feature that simulates surround sound.

SB2920 features Bluetooth connectivity, too. There’s no info on the Bluetooth version but it offers pretty much standard performance – approx. 30ft range and stable connection within this range.

Inside the soundbar, there are two full-range 2.5in drivers. As you can assume, those tiny drivers are not great when it comes to bass reproduction but they are pretty good when it comes to mids, dialogs, and highs. They are pretty loud, too. The good thing is that you can always add a wired subwoofer to the soundbar.

Things we don’t like

SB2920-C6 doesn’t have HDMI inputs or outputs.

Since it has only two drivers, it won’t deliver true surround sound. The list of supported surround sound formats includes only LPCM 5.1, Dolby 5.1, and DTS 5.1.

That array of LED source/mode indicators on the front panel is not very intuitive. Installing a simple 4-digit LCD display would’ve been a much better solution.

2. Best VIZIO Soundbar/Subwoofer Combo Under $150 – VIZIO SB2821-D6

VIZIO SB2821-D6

SB2821-D6 is a 2.1 system. This means that you’re getting a wireless subwoofer along with a soundbar. The bar is 28 inches long and it’s a great match for 32-40in TVs. SB 2821-D6 is priced under $150.

Things we like

Like all the VIZIO bars, SB2821-D6 comes with all the necessary wall-mounting equipment and all the audio cables. It also comes with a simple remote.

The bar looks practically the same as the previous one. It has a cuboid shape with VIZIO covers on the left and right ends. The whole front, top, and rear panels are wrapped in acoustic fabric. In the front left corner, there’s an array of LED indicators. Different LED combos indicate different sound modes and active features.

You have five control buttons on the top (power, source, Bluetooth, volume). Al the inputs/outputs are on the back. Like the previous SB2920-C6, SB2821-D6 houses optical, coaxial, RCA, AUX, and USB inputs.

This system has two EQ presets – movie and music. It also supports VIZIO’s proprietary TruVolume and TruSurround features. TruVolume regulates the volume and makes it more consistent. TruSurround provides surround sound simulation.

SB2821-D6 features Bluetooth connectivity, too. You can pair your phone and stream music wirelessly. There’s no info on the Bluetooth version but, in our experience, it delivers pretty much standard performance and range.

The soundbar supports only the most common LPCM 5.1, Dolby 5.1, and DTS 5.1. More advanced audio formats, including Atmos and DTS:X, are not supported.

SB2821-D6 soundbar features two 2.75in full-range woofers. The subwoofer has one 5.25in woofer. The system delivers pretty impressive sonic performance. The low-end is not that deep but, for the price, it’s more than expected.

Things we don’t like

The soundbar doesn’t have any HDMI inputs. Also, there is no HDMI ARC output.

Those LED source/mode indicators are not very intuitive and can be quite confusing. Using a simple LCD display would’ve been a much better option.

3. Best VIZIO Soundbar Under $100 – VIZIO SB3220n-F6

VIZIO SB3220n-F6

SB3220n-F6 is a little bit larger than the previous two soundbars and it’s a good match for slightly larger TVs (32in-45in). This is a 2.0 system and it’s priced under $90.

Things we like

SB3220n-F6 comes with all the necessary mounting equipment and all the audio cables. It also comes with a simple IR remote.

In terms of design, there’s no difference between this one and the previous two. It features a simple cuboid shape. Front, top, and bottom are wrapped in acoustic fabric. On the front panel, in the left corner, there’s a vertical array of 12 LED indicators. They are supposed to show you the source and active sound mode but they can be quite confusing.

On the top, you have a simple 5-button control panel. You can use this panel to turn the soundbar on/off, select source, initiate pairing, and adjust the volume.

All the inputs/outputs are on the back. Like the previous two soundbars, SBB3220n-F6 features three digital inputs (optical, coaxial, and USB) and two analog stereo inputs (AUX and RCA). This soundbar doesn’t come with a subwoofer but it has a SUB OUT port so you can buy the subwoofer separately and connect it to the soundbar.

SB3220n-F6 features Bluetooth connectivity. The manufacturer doesn’t offer any info on the Bluetooth version. The Bluetooth delivers decent performance with a standard Bluetooth range.

Like the previous two bars, SB3220n-F6 supports TruVolume, which is the feature that regulates the volume level and provides consistent volume. This soundbar also supports DTS Virtual:X, which is the feature that simulates overhead sound effects.

The bar houses two 2.75in full-range woofers. They don’t really offer the kind of bass that’s great for movies but mids and highs are pretty clear and accurate. So, the soundbar is a great choice for watching TV and listening to music but it’s recommended to add a subwoofer for movie-watching. The remote allows you to play with bass and treble settings.

Things we don’t like

The soundbar has no HDMI inputs or outputs.

Those LED source/mode indicator lights are not very intuitive. Different LED combos indicate different sources and sound modes. Using a simple 4-digit display instead of these LED lights would’ve been a better choice.

More advanced surround sound formats (like Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X) are not supported.

4. Best-looking VIZIO Soundbar – VIZIO SB362An-F6B

VIZIO SB362An-F6B

Check Price on Amazon

VIZIO SB352An-F6B is 36in wide and it’s a great choice for 40in and larger TVs. This is a two-channel system with built-in dual subwoofers. It delivers much better performance than similarly priced soundbars made by other manufacturers.

Things we like

Like all the other VIZIO bars, SB362An-F6B comes with all the mounting equipment and all the necessary audio cables. The remote is also included.

Unlike most other VIZIO soundbars, SB362An-F6B doesn’t have that ordinary cuboid shape. It’s more angular and the whole exterior looks much more elegant. The soundbar is completely black and most of it is wrapped in black fabric grille. On the front, right in the middle, you have a horizontal array of LED source/mode indicator lights.

On the left panel, you have 5 buttons for some basic functions (ON/OFF, source, Bluetooth pairing, volume controls). On the back, you have a fairly limited number of inputs. There’s one optical input, one AUX stereo input, and one USB port (for music playback only – WAV and mp3 files are supported).

The soundbar features Bluetooth connectivity, too. The manufacturer didn’t offer any info on the Bluetooth version. The Bluetooth connection delivers satisfying performance with a standard 30ft range.

Like all the previous VIZIO soundbars, SB362An-F6B supports TruVolume (regulates the volume level consistency) and DTS Virtual:X (simulates height effects). The remote also allows you to activate one of two available sound modes – movie or music. You can also play with bass and treble levels.

The soundbar houses two full-range 2.67in woofers paired with two 3in passive bass radiators. So, you have a 2.0 system but with a much better bass response than similarly priced soundbars made by VIZIO and other manufacturers. The midrange reproduction is pretty accurate and the dialogs are quite clear.

Things we don’t like

The biggest problem we have with this soundbar is the limited connectivity. It doesn’t have any HDMI inputs or outputs. It also lacks coaxial inputs.

Those LED indicator lights can be quite confusing. Different LED combos indicate different sound modes and sources and you will have to remember all the combos in order to know which source is currently active. A simple LCD display would’ve been a much more user-friendly solution.

If you are looking for something tiny and affordable, SB2020n-G6 is just the thing you need. SB2020n-G6 is a perfect choice for your kid’s room. It’s very compact, it’s better than your TV speakers, and it features Bluetooth.

Things we like

SB2020n-G6 comes with all the necessary mounting equipment and all the audio cables. The remote is also included.

SB2020n-G6, just like many other VIZIO bars, has that recognizable cuboid shape with plastic covers with VIZIO logos on the left and right panels. Front, bottom, and top panels are wrapped in black fabric grille. On the front panel, in the left corner, there’s one LED indicator. Different LED colors indicate different sources and different sound modes (Blue – Bluetooth, Amber – optical, Green – AUX, Magenta – USB).

You have some basic controls (power, Bluetooth, source, and volume) on the top panel. For all the other functions, you have to use the included remote.

All the inputs/outputs are on the back. The soundbar houses one USB port (for music playback), one optical, and one AUX input. There’s also a SUB output, in case you want to connect an external subwoofer. The soundbar also features Bluetooth connectivity. The connection is stable and the range is 30ft.

Like all the previous soundbars, VIZIO SB2020n-G6 features TruVolume (regulates volume level) and DTS Virtual:X (simulates height effects). The remote allows you to select one of two available sound modes – music or movies. You can also adjust the bass and treble levels.

SB2020n-G6 houses two full-range 1.61×2.24in woofers. Considering the size, SB2020n-G6 is very loud and sounds pretty good. The mids and dialogs are clear and articulate. The treble is fairly consistent. The bass is lacking but that’s kind of expected. The bar is still much better than the TV speakers.

Things we don’t like

SB2020n-G6 doesn’t have any HDMI inputs or outputs. The number of available inputs is quite limited.

This bar has a single LED indicator, which is a much better option than an array of LED indicators, but it’s still not as good as having a simple LCD display.

SB3621n-E8M is a 2.1 system that includes a 36in wide soundbar and a wireless 5.25in subwoofer. It’s a perfect match for 40in-50in TVs.

Things we like

One thing we all like about VIZIO bars and surround sound systems is that it comes with all the necessary audio cables and mounting equipment. SB3621n-E8M also comes with a simple remote with a tiny LCD display at the top.

The soundbar looks like many other VIZIO soundbars. It has a standard cuboid shape, and it’s wrapped in a black fabric grille. On the left and right ends, there are plastic covers with VIZIO logos. On the top, there’s a simple control panel that allows you to control basic functions (power, Bluetooth, source, volume).

All the inputs are on the back panel. The soundbar has one optical, one coaxial, one AUX, and one USB input (for music playback – mp3 and WAV). Aside from all the physical connections, you also have Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth delivers decent performance with a fast pairing, standard 30ft range, and reliable connection.

SB3621n-E8M features all the standard sound modes. There are two EQ presets – movie and music. The soundbar also supports TruVolume (provides consistent volume level) and DTS Virtual:X (height effect simulation). The remote also allows you to control the treble and bass levels. The remote that comes with this unit is a little bit different from all the previous remotes since it has a tiny LCD screen that shows you which feature is being controlled. This remote doesn’t have dedicated buttons for each function, only basic playback and volume buttons.

The soundbar houses two 2in full-range woofers. Combined with one 5.25in subwoofer, the system delivers a decent amount of bass and provides quite an enjoyable movie-watching experience. The dialogs are clear and intelligible and the sound is pretty loud.

Things we don’t like

The soundbar doesn’t have any HDMI inputs or outputs.

The LCD screen on the remote is small and it’s hard to read. Having a dedicated button for each function is a better option.

Like most other VIZIO soundbars, SB3621n-E8M has an array of LED indicators in the front-left corner. These indicators are not very user-friendly.

If you’re looking for a real surround sound system at a more than affordable price, VIZIO SB3651-E6C is a great option. SB3651-E6C is priced under $200 and it delivers an immersive listening experience. The packaging includes the soundbar, wireless subwoofer, and two surround speakers (they connect to the subwoofer).

Things we like

SB3651-E6C, like all the previous VIZIO soundbars, comes with all the audio cables and mounting equipment. The remote with a tiny LCD display is also included in the package.

Like many others on our list of 8 best VIZIO soundbars in 2020, SB3651-E6C has an ordinary cuboid shape. Most of it is wrapped in black fabric grille. Left and right panels have plastic VIZIO covers. Some basic controls (power, Bluetooth, source, and volume) are on the top.

All the inputs/outputs are on the rear panel. The soundbar features one HDMI input, one HDMI ARC output, optical input, coaxial input, AUX input, and a USB input (for music playback). The soundbar also has an Ethernet port for wired connection to your wi-fi network. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the soundbar and the surround speakers are supposed to be connected to the subwoofer (all the cables included). Aside from physical connections, the soundbar also features Bluetooth connectivity and wi-fi connectivity.

The soundbar supports some standard features you can find on cheaper VIZIO soundbars like TruVolume. The soundbar features three EQ presets – movie, music, and direct. The remote allows you to adjust the bass and treble levels and to play with the center and surround levels. There’s also a special mode designed for watching movies at night (night mode). This mode will lower the bass response and provide a more enjoyable listening experience at low volumes.

The soundbar has a Chromecast built-in, which means that you can use it just like any Chromecast-enabled speaker. VIZIO SB3651-E6C can be a part of your multiroom system, too.

The system can be controlled with the SmartCast app (available for Android and iOS).

The soundbar has three drivers arranged in three channels (2.8in x2 + 2.6in for the center channel). Each surround speaker houses one 2.8in full-range driver, while the subwoofer houses one rear-firing 5.2in woofer. Compared to all the previous systems, VIZIO SB3651-E6C is much more immersive, not only because of the surround speakers but also because of the additional driver inside the soundbar (dedicated center channel). The dialogs are perfectly clear. The bass response is decent and adds the right amount of punch. All in all, you can hardly get better performance at this price point.

Things we don’t like

The display on the remote is small and hard to read.

If you have more than one device with digital outputs (aside from your TV) that you want to connect to the bar, you will have to use optical or coaxial connection.

VIZIO SB4051-D5

Check Price on Amazon

VIZIO SB4051-D5 is one of the most expensive VIZIO soundbar surround systems. It’s also one of the most feature-rich and best sounding soundbar systems. The system consists of one 40in soundbar, one slim wireless subwoofer, and two surround speakers. This is a great match for 50-60in TVs.

Things we like

Like all the other VIZIO soundbars, SB4051-D5 comes with all the necessary audio cables and mounting equipment. The remote is also included in the package.

In terms of design, there’s no difference between SB4051-D1 soundbar and other VIZIO soundbar. It’s a simple cuboid bar with a black fabric grille on the top, front, and bottom panels. The subwoofer, however, is somewhat different from other subwoofers. It’s slim and tall. It can be placed next to or under your couch.

Recommended Reading :

The bar has three 2in x 4in drivers, arranged in three channels (left, center, right). Each surround speaker has one 2in x 4in full-range driver. The subwoofer houses one 6.5in driver. SB4051-D5 delivers very good surround sound performance. The subwoofer delivers the right amount of bass and the soundbar delivers crystal clear mids and vocals. The remote and app allow you to control the bass, treble, center channel, and surround levels. You can also select one of two available EQ presets – movie or music.

Things we don’t like

SB4051-D5 doesn’t support 4K pass-thru. It also doesn’t support object-based surround sound formats.

SB4051-D5 was originally priced under $400 and, for that kind of money, it delivered a great performance. However, this soundbar is currently priced over $900 and that’s simply too much.

Comparison Table

This is the end of our list of 8 best VIZIO soundbars in 2020. If you have any additional questions, read our FAQs section and, if you want to share your opinion about VIZIO soundbars, leave a comment below.

FAQs

Q: Are VIZIO soundbars any good?

A: For the price, they are very good. Sure, they’re not on par with high-end soundbars made by more reputable manufacturers. They don’t have all those advanced features you can find on more expensive soundbars and most of them don’t look very attractive, but their sound performance usually exceeds the expectations.

Q: What is the best VIZIO soundbar in 2020?

A: Unfortunately, we can’t recommend just one. One soundbar may be perfect for one room configuration and TV size, but it’s not going to be perfect for every room, every TV size, and every possible setup. That’s why you have our selection of 8 best VIZIO soundbars in 2020.

Q: What size soundbar do I need for a 55-inch TV?

A: In general, you should be looking for a soundbar that’s not much bigger or much smaller than your TV. You should try to match your TV size and your soundbar size, not only because of the aesthetics but also because you are matching the sound with the picture. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t make the right match but everything sounds much better and more real when there’s a nice match. So, if your TV’s diagonal is 55in, the width of your TV is 47.9in, and you should be looking for a 48in long soundbar (+/-5in).

Q: What is the difference between 2.1 and 5.1 soundbar?

A: The first number in 2.1 and 5.1 tells you the number of channels (not drivers) in a soundbar (or soundbar system). The second number tells you the number of subwoofers. Subwoofers are usually separate units that come along with soundbars. So, the difference between 2.1 and 5.1 is in the number of channels.

So, 2.1 soundbars have 2 channels (2 drivers of 4 drivers arranged in two channels – left and right). They are usually smaller than average. 5.1 soundbars have more than 2 or 4 drivers. These soundbars basically simulate surround sound or come with separate surround sound speakers.

If a single soundbar is classified as 5.1 bar, it means that it has an array of front-firing drivers arranged in three channels (front left, center, front right) and two side-firing drivers that are supposed to replace the surround channels. In some cases, the term 5.1 system can be used to describe a system that consists of a 3-channel soundbar, one subwoofer, and two separate surround speakers.

Q: How do I choose a soundbar for my TV?

A: There’re many things to consider when buying a soundbar. Whenever we buy a piece of audio electronics, we consider things like price, size, build quality. Aside from these standard characteristics, the most important things to consider when looking for a soundbar are the number and type of inputs/outputs, expandability, advanced features (sound modes, EQ settings), and sound quality. You should be looking for something compatible with all the audio sources you want to connect.
