We are amazed by the size of the speaker. It is really stunning how something that is smaller than a palm can be so loud and powerful. The choice of colors and the nice shiny matte finish really make this speaker adorable.

In spite of being small and light, this speaker offers a lot. It is very durable as it is made from aluminum and we assume it can survive some severe usage. The buttons are very responsive and easy to use while the bottom of the speaker is covered with rubber that prevents sliding along the surface the speaker stands on.

SoundCore Mini supports Bluetooth 4.0 version and the signal range is way longer than average (50ft) although it is shorter than advertised (66ft). The connection is very strong, especially if you stay under 30ft radius. The speaker can also be used for answering calls thanks to the built-in mic.

You can mount the provided bike cage on your bike, put the speaker inside the cage and go for a ride. The battery of this speaker can beat most of the batteries on the market. If you use it at 50% volume, you can get up to 50 hours of playback time, while it lasts up to 20 hours at 70% volume, which is quite amazing. You also have the USB port that can be used to charge your phone or player.

ION Tailgater has a built-in FM radio. It also has the real metal antenna which enables better signal and better sound quality. It is also great that you have highly responsive buttons that you can use to easily switch between stations.

As far as the sound quality is concerned, we can say that this speaker sounds more than decent for the price. It can get very loud and it has a nice and punchy bass while the mids and highs are quite distinctive and clean.

 Things we don’t like

We must admit that the speaker doesn’t look attractive. If you prefer your devices to look stylish, you should probably keep reading.

It looks rather sturdy and the sides and strap are rubberized. You get all this at an affordable price.

The Bluetooth connection works nice for the price and the pairing process is very easy. It is also very easy to use all the other modes. FM is a default mode and it will be on when you turn on the speaker. Thanks to the nice display, you can easily adjust the settings using the buttons below the display. You even have the equalizer that enables you to adjust the sound to your preferences. A: Well, none of those cheap tiny speakers offers excellent reception and can’t compete with real radios with analog FM tuners but they all offer satisfying performance. Our favorite Bluetooth speakers with FM radio are ION Audio Tailgater and Avantree SP850.
