The microphone built inside the Flip 4 works only in Bluetooth mode, and your laptop probably has a separate mic output. Even if your laptop has a single line-in/mic out port, it won’t work. So, the problem is in the speaker – it simply has some limitations when it comes to wired connection. Using a TRRS cable (which is the only one with mic channel) will not make a difference.

Flip 4 is compatible with other JBL Connect+ speakers while the Flip 3 is compatible with JBL Connect speakers. JBL Connect and JBL Connect + speakers are not compatible with each other (you can’t pair them together). There might be some kind of firmware update for JBL Connect speakers in the future that will make Connect and Connect+ speakers compatible.
Connecting your PS4 to your Flip 4 via Bluetooth is possible but it’s not recommended – you will probably experience some audio/video syncing issues. JBL Flip 4 also has a 3.5mm input but 3.5mm port on PS4 is reserved for PlayStation camera. You could probably connect your JBL via 3.5mm port instead of PlayStation camera.
Flip 4 features Li-ion battery which means that you don’t have to worry about the fist time charge requirements. That was the case with older batteries. Charge it until its full or leave it to charge overnight. It takes 3.5-4 hours to fully charge the battery (from 0% to 100%).
